Leech therapy for horses - Dear horse owners,

Leech therapy is one of the oldest in the world.
I use only medical leeches. The breeding of these is subject to strict medical regulations and is always controlled. This ensures that no bacteria can be transmitted. The leeches I use only come from certified breeding facilities. Leeches do not only suck unwanted substances from the tissue, but rather they release a variety of useful substances that have an anti-clotting and anti-inflammatory effect on the body.

Please note that since January 2022 leech treatment may only be carried out on the prescription of a veterinarian!

Indications

Leeches can be an extremely useful addition to the therapy plan for the following indications:

Osteoarthritis
kissing spines
Hoof roll inflammation
Tendon problems
Laminitis
Bruises
Bruises
pressure sores
Phlegmon
Joint galls
Joint diseases and inflammations
Mallenders

Contraindications

Since the use of leeches stimulates the entire system of the horse, they must not be used on all horses with the following problems:

Anemia
Weak immune system
Administration of various medications (blood thinners, antibiotics, painkillers, cortisone,...)
Gastric ulcers
Malignant tumors
Fever
Histamine allergy
